Dr. Rachel Mesele-Avune

Clinical biochemistry doctor at Soroka Medical Center’s Immunological Laboratory.

Dr. Mesele-Avune did her National Service at Soroka Medical Center, serving as a medical secretary for the operating rooms. She obtained her extensive professional education at Ben Gurion University – she has a B.A. in Medical Laboratory Sciences, an M.Med.Sc., a Ph.D., and a Post-Doctorate degree from the clinical biochemistry department within the Faculty of Health Sciences. Her various researches deal with proteins.

She has been working at Soroka Medical Center’s Immunological Laboratory since 2009. In the framework of her job, she performs cancer marker tests and various immunological tests, while using innovative devices and approaches. In addition to working in the laboratory, she guides students from the departments of medicine, pharmacy, and laboratory medicine.

Dr. Mesele-Avune publicized professional articles in her fields of expertise and she takes part in various scientific conferences and professional seminars in Israel and abroad. She also received several awards: in 2003 she received the Outstanding Poster Award at the Conference of the Israel Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ISBMB) at Tel Aviv University’s Medical School; in 2007 she received the Excelling Teaching Assistant Award in the Biochemistry Bet course – an award given as appreciation from laboratory medical students; and in 2010 she received the “Excelling Immigrant Award” from the Kivunim Company and Beer Sheva’s Municipal Absorption Unit.
