Dr. Yonatan Reuven

Doctor, pioneer in the field of researching the health of the Ethiopian Israeli community, Captain in the IDF Reserves.

Born in Addis Ababa, son of an activist at the American Association for Ethiopian Jews (AAEJ), which assisted his family in making aliyah on a commercial flight in May 1984 prior to Operation Moses. Served in the IDF’s Intelligence Corps within the special operations system’s commando unit and is a Captain in the IDF Reserves.

Graduate of Ben Gurion University’s medical school and will soon begin his residency in the Otolaryngology Ward at Belinson Hospital.

During his medical studies, his submitted his doctoral dissertation at Ben Gurion University on the topic of “Trends in Chronic Disease and Cancer Among Ethiopian Israelis”. A pioneer in researching the health of Ethiopian Israelis, provides consultations to government figures in this field and gives lectures on this topic in various forums (Israeli Knesset, Kuput Cholim health care providers). He is one of the consultants in the system for examining blood donations from Ethiopian Israelis and is a partner in building a forum of health professionals from the Ethiopian Israeli community which works to promote health matters among the community and make them more accessible. Has experience in planning research systems and analyzing data, has presented at professional conferences and serves as a reviewer for a number of professional periodicals. Known as a consultant for quitting smoking from Ben Gurion University in the Negev.
