Kes Semai Eliass

Chairman of the Religious Council of the Kessim Organization of Ethiopian Jewry in Israel.

Earned a B.A. in Education and Sociology from Bar Ilan University, followed by an M.A. in Judaic Studies from Ono Academic College. Specialized in guiding parents and groups, which he studied at the Kibbutzim College.

Immigrated to Israel through Sudan in 1987. Studied at Kfar Hasidim High School and served in the Israeli Air Force. Worked as a tour guide at the Society for the Protection of Nature in Israel and as an Education and Family Coordinator on behalf of the Municipality of Rishon L’Tzion, the Jewish Federation of Greater Metrowest New Jersey, and JDC-Israel.

Manages a Community “Garin” in cooperation with “Friends By Nature” – a non-profit organization. Serves as CEO of the Council of Kohanim of the Ethiopian Jews in Israel, an organization of Kessim. In 2004, we was ordained as Kes – a spiritual and social leader.

Serves as a Kes of Rishon L’Tzion’s Ethiopian Israeli community and as Chairman of the Religious Council of Kessim Organization. Lecturer on topics of Ethiopian Jewish heritage and the role of Kessim in the past and present. He also holds workshops for parents and groups on parenting and family.
