Has a B.A. in Psychology and Human Services and an M.A. in Organizational Sociology from Haifa University.
One of the founders of Olim Beyahad and member of the Board of Trustees. Also serves as Chairperson of Temeratz – the Forum of Ethiopian Israeli Council Members and Chairperson of the Refugees Forum.
Maharata holds the welfare and social services portfolio within Tel Aviv’s Municipality, serves as a substitute with the culture portfolio, and leads the municipal food program, “Betayavon” that encourages healthy eating.
She is the founder and leader of Tel Aviv-Yafo’s annual welfare conference. In addition, she is a Board Member at Cinemateque, the Mishkan – Tel Aviv Performing Arts Center, and “Matash” – a Rehabilitation Employment Center.
